TWO POEMS

rain parish  

After me nuh fraid a water, steady in the storm, nah run from the rain, all when dutty heart surround me, me nuh cut, standing firm, after me nuh fraid a blessing, him alone a see me through, all me enemies will rise up and call me bless, me nah beg nuh friend, but nuh fraid fi humble meself, bad mind music ring true, in Jamaica woman a general too, money O! 

 

when yuh power kneels 

 after people cant validate me. yuh mad.  

all when you rate me. yuh cant validate me.  

 

suh if yuh cant validate me. then that mean  

at your core, yuh nuh –powerless too.  

 

oh, yuh think yuh can bruck me.  

place me. box me in. 

 

my God, my God, how much time this yah lesson fi repeat.  

A who a teach this yah class yah? who addi headmaster?  

 

careful what yuh pray for. careful what yuh cry for.  

perfection is a lie a mere trick a the devil 

 

daily surrender a the thing  

chanting progression over perfection 

cause if me did get it, when me did want it,  

it woulda kill me, yuh see
